Hi all
well we've had a very very busy few months here at Wayside. We moved in at the end of May and its been non stop ever
since.
The paddock has been cleared, ditches cleaned out, fencing put up and all animals are now here with us.
It makes so much difference having the animals around you, rather than having to travel a couple of miles to feed them.
Its nice having the chickens free ranging and clucking about as you walk up to see the pigs, and hearing the lambs bleating
hoping that you might have something nice for them to eat.
Its been a lot of hard work.......but its starting to feel like home........

We celebrated moving into Wayside with quite a big bash. Over 100 friends and family came and celebrated with
us and tucked into a delicious Hog Roast....one of our home reared pigs....
June saw us picking fresh cherries form a top secret location in Cambridgeshire... really sweet and delicious...and free
too.......
In July we tried our hand at making some home cured ham and bacon.......Thanks to some great advice and help from David
Newman and his Chefs at the Barn Restuarant we made the best tasting ham and bacon we have ever tried....

Also in July Rodney the Boar came for a visit from our Friends Shane and Emma's Smallholding. He stayed with us for quite
a while...infact it was quite a job to get rid of him....At one point I thought we might have to adopt him!!!
But He's done the job and our lovely Large Black sow affectionaltely known as 'Mum' is now in pig and we're just waiting
for them to be born.......

During August a new addition to the Ayres family arrived......Barney the English Springer Spaniel.......I've loved these
dogs ever since I saw one that a friend of mine had and he's such a cutie!!!!!! Watch out for Barney's page coming soon!!!

The collection of Poultry is ever increasing.....
At the moment we have some pure breed Buff Orpingtons, a mixture of hybrid and Banty Orpington birds for laying,
a few Aylesbury Ducks for eggs and meat, 10 chickens for producing some lovely Roast Dinners and 7 Turkeys for Christmas........

Lastly I have to mention the fact that Jackie would not let me have a tractor....well a full size one anyway....so I'm
quite happy with my little Westwood......I'm thinking of pimping it up........
